Avis (Schindler) Look of Hays, KS, formerly of Stockton, KS, passed away on October 20, 2022, in Hays, KS at the age of 88. She was born on July 9, 1934, to Raymond and Vera (Arrington) Schindler in Greenfield Rooks County, KS. She was married to Lester E. Look on May 17, 1952, in Belleville, KS. They were blessed with two daughters: Patricia and Diane.

Avis grew up in Stockton. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1952 and married Lester soon after. She was a homemaker and kept busy raising their daughters. She was a volunteer at the Hays Hospital and Hays First United Methodist Church where she was a member. She had a strong relationship with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ that helped her throughout her life.

One of the greatest joys of her life was her family. Her grandchildren were often treated to a trip to the Sternberg Museum, one of her favorite destinations. She had special talents at quilting, embroidery, gardening, and cooking. She enjoyed collecting recipe books and windmills. A trip to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park where she viewed the mountains and wildlife was always at the top of her list of many travels.

Avis has gone to be with her Lord and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The legacy of her love, laughter, and joy will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

Avis is survived by her husband, Lester; daughters, Patricia (Stan) Remmers of Sabetha, KS and Diane (Randall) Hrabe of Plainville, KS; siblings, Zoe Hrabe of Stockton, Kermit (Barbara) Schindler of Stockton, Kenneth Schindler of Topeka, KS, Marilyn (Dwight) Miller of Stockton, Louis Schindler of Hill City, KS, Marvin Schindler of Goddard, KS, and Henry Schindler of Great Bend, KS; sisters-in-law, Julie Schindler and Sandy Schindler; 8 grandchildren, Judd (Tanya) Remmers, Matt Hrabe, Joel (Felicia) Hrabe, Greg Remmers, Emily Hrabe, Abigail (Richard) Kidwell, Libby (Lance) Ziegler, and Caroline (Chris) Keas; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Vera; siblings, Rita (Gene) Hrabe, Richard Schindler, Charles Schindler, and Raymond, Jr. (Shirley) Schindler; and brother-in-law, Normand Hrabe.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at the Stockton Church of Restoration. Burial will follow in the Stockton Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
