LaVone Hoss, 97, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. She was born on December 6, 1926, in Dighton, Kansas, the daughter of Emile and Mabel (Gray) Dutoit.
LaVone was a homemaker and a bookkeeper and was secretary of the United Methodist Church in Dighton for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Lane County Historical Museum where she volunteered as a worker. She volunteered at the Joy Center. She married Cecil Richards on September 1, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas. To this union two children were born, Carol and Terry Richards. Cecil passed away June 2, 1990. She later married Stanley Hoss on November 25, 2000, in Ness City. He passed away on August 24, 2019.
Survivors include her daughter Carol Richards of Shell Knob, MO; stepchildren: Don (Rayetta) Hoss, Peggy Bain, Sandy Reinert (David), Cindy Hawkinson (Jay), Hal Hoss (Wendy) all of Ness City, Mari Ann O’Neill (Steve) of Brighton, Colorado, Marlinda Henry (LD) of Ensign, Debbie Mitchell (Rusty) of Meriden, Tim Hoss (Rhonda) of Pratt, and Janet Dennis (Ken) of Dighton; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and son, Terry Richard; brother, Buck Dutoit (Delores) and three sisters, Linda Lou Dutoit, Beverly Ann Dutoit, and Ramona See.
Funeral service will be on Monday, July 8, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City, Kansas. Burial in the Dighton Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas, on Sunday July 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Sacred Heart Church or the United Methodist Church of Dighton.
