Frank Arias Garcia, 75, passed away December 26, 2023 at his home in Wichita.
He was born February 7, 1948 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, the son of Lewis & Agapita Valerio Garcia.
Prior to moving to Wichita, he was a longtime Larned resident and worked as a Mental Health Aide for the Larned State Hospital. He was a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, current member of All Saints Catholic Church, Wichita and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, hunting, scratching lottery tickets, watching western shows and the History Channel. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper and artillery instructor at West Point.
On December 4, 1976 he married Linda Marie Perez in Larned; she survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Henry Garcia, Belpre; a daughter Melissa (Mario) Cortez, Wichita, Melinda Garcia, South Carolina; 3 brothers, Joe (Annie) Garcia, Larned, Dan Garcia, Larned, Raymond Garcia, Arizona; 4 sisters, Hilda Garcia, Baldwin City, Bertha (Larry) Echelberry, Missouri, Rita (Stan) Zabica, Oklahoma, Theresa Penrod, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Damian, Kesha, Cordell, Tamber, Bryson, Blyss, Zaydenn, Kylee, Amy, Katya, Denise; five great grandchildren, Mune, Luis, Emily, Ivan and Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lou Garcia and sister Josephine.
Funeral mass will be at 11:00am Friday, January 12, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Ted Skalsky presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned with vigil & rosary at 6:30pm. Military honors will be presented following the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned.
