James Robert “Bob” Hildebrand, 75, sadly passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023.
Bob
was born February 3, 1947, in Hill City, Kansas. Best known by his
friends and family as “Hilde," he was a true cowboy at heart. In his
younger years you would often find him at the local rodeo events around
Hill City riding the bulls and broncs. After graduating from Hill City
High School, Bob joined the Air Force and was stationed in Almogordo,
New Mexico. Prior to his retirement from the workforce, he was an
employee for Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Company, he was a carpet layer,
and helped local farmers with harvest. Bob enjoyed spending time with
friends and knew his way around a pool table, but he had a real passion
for the outdoors. He spent many hours hunting and fishing at the local
lakes. As a fan of Ducks Unlimited, Bob attended multiple banquets
where he won guided fishing tours in Minnesota. When he wasn’t at the
lake you could find him at his local safety meeting, playing solitaire,
or cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bob was
preceded in death by his parents, Frederick & Emma (Albertson)
Hildebrand and his sister Janet Ashbaugh. He is survived by his
brother, Brett (Traci) Hildebrand, two sons Chris (Rebecca) Hildebrand
and Matt (Kim) Hildebrand, four grandchildren and multiple nieces and
nephews.
A public funeral service will be held in Bob’s honor at Cowboy Junction in Hill City Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Please forward any condolences to Stinemetz Funeral Home 522 N. Pomeroy Ave., Hill City, Kansas 67642.
