Myrna Joyce Branstetter-Schartz, 74, passed away on September 3, 2023, at Chisholm Place in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on September 21, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas, to John and Pauline (Ferrell) Beal.

On December 12, 1993, she married James “Jake” Branstetter in Las Vegas, Nevada; he passed away on July 20, 2007. Myrna married Joseph “Joe” Jakl in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 22, 2015. He survives. 

A long-time resident of Great Bend, having spent some time in Denver, Colorado, and Manhattan, Kansas, Myrna worked as an outside sales representative for OPI. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and former member of the Great Bend Pilot Club. 

Survivors include her husband, of the home; stepson Jeffrey Branstetter of Minneola, Kansas; stepdaughters Jana (Don) Thimesch and Julie Pacino, all of Kingman, Kansas; a niece, Kerry J. Lampe; great-nephew Cameron Lampe of Shawnee, Kansas; great-niece Taylor (Drew) FitzGerald of Lawrence, Kansas; numerous cousins including Virginia Shawver of Wichita, Kansas, Bonnie Springfield, Virginia (Bob) Ricky of Cassville, Missouri, Pete (Brenda) Fuller of Stafford, Kansas, Nila Rouck of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Linda Stone of El Reno, Oklahoma. 

She was preceded in death by husbands, Robert Choitz, Jake Branstetter, and Thon Schartz; stepson, James Ross Branstetter; stepdaughter Brenda Branstetter; her parents; sister Sue (Beal) Lampe-Huss; nephew John R. Lampe; and cousin Sylvia Springfield.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home with Reverend Dick Ogle presiding. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

Memorials have been designated to donor’s choice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
