Wilma Jean (Hines) Wiseman was born on December 2, 1933, at the farm homestead northwest of Almena, KS to Leonard and Janettie Hines. She passed away November 16, 2022, at the Andbe Home.
Wilma had 3 older sisters, Laurine, Emily and Leta and two younger brothers, Darrell and Rollin. She graduated from Almena High School in 1951 and lived in Norton at a girls’ boarding house while she worked as a salesclerk and bookkeeper at the Ben Franklin store. She married Lawrence Eldon Wiseman on September 14, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Norton. They lived in rural Clayton where Lawrence farmed with his Uncle Wayne Rule. They eventually moved northwest of Norton, KS to live and farm. In 1965, they purchased a dairy farm east of Norton. Wilma was always a hard worker and worked on the farm along with Lawrence. She drove tractors, combines, and other equipment. They lived there until Lawrence passed away in 2011. Wilma then moved to town where she lived until she moved to the Andbe Home in 2021. Lawrence and Wilma had 4 children: Connie Jo, Lon Dean, Donald Lester, and Sandra Lea.
Wilma was a member of the Norton Christian Church and was very involved in the TOPS club for many years. She and Lawrence enjoyed square dancing and traveling. For years she enjoyed going and visiting different casinos. She loved her family and hosted many, many family dinners. She spent many years attending local sporting events and watching hours of baseball and football on TV.
Wilma is survived by her 4 children: Connie Jo (Ben) Griebel of Sargent, NE, Dean (Bobbi) Wiseman of Norton, KS, Donald (Carolyne) Wiseman of Norton, KS and Sandy (Bob) Husted of Norton, KS. Wilma leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Darrell (Trudy) Hines of Cheyenne, WY and lots of extended family.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, November 25, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Norton Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
