Donald Anthony Juenemann was born December 7, 1939, on the family farm south of Leoville, Kansas, to Frank and Amelia (Kleinsorge) Juenemann. He passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Sheridan County Health Complex in Hoxie, Kansas, at the age of 83.

Don and his siblings grew up on the family farm south of Leoville. He graduated from Leoville High School in 1958. He then served in the United States Army as a ham radio operator in Germany.

On February 17, 1968, Don was united in marriage to Helen Siruta in Colby, KS. They made their home on the family farm. To this union they were blessed with five children and 15 grandchildren.

Don was a hardworking and devoted farmer, husband, father and grandfather. In addition to farming, he spent many years doing a variety of skilled jobs.

Don was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he served as grand knight and district deputy, as well as a commander of Selden American Legion Post 321. He enjoyed working in his shop, playing pinochle, polka dancing, but most of all, building and admiring a nice, STRAIGHT line of fence. But over everything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his wife in 2015; his parents; two brothers, Richard and Paul; and grandson, Jake Anthony Geisinger

He is survived by his children Dawn (Hardy) Howard, of WaKeeney, and their children Larissa (Wyatt) Disque, Aleah and Jenna; Daryl (Matt) Havlas, of Quinter, and children Peyton (Zach) Gillespie, Conner, Preston and Cooper; Darren (Stacie) Juenemann, of Manhattan and children Dalton, Trenton and Jayda; Dana (Jason) Geisinger, of rural Hoxie and children Karlee and Nash; and Dustin (Tonya) Juenemann, of Norton, and children Nolan and Ella: siblings Ervin of Concord, CA; Joseph (Joyce) of Saratoga, WY; Frank (Stormy) of Corning, CA; Mary Ann (Mark) Schemm, of Topeka; and Janet Wahlmeier, of Colby; in addition to many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 18 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville with Fr. Vincent Thu Lang, Fr. Matthew Chacko, and Fr. Charles Steier officiating. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in WaKeeney at 2 p.m. Visitation is Sunday, September 17 from 4 – 7 p.m. with rosary following at the church in Leoville.

Memorial may be made to the Sheridan County Benefit Walk or Kansas Honor Flight.
