Marylin Nadine Cheney, age 91, passed away at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born in Ness County, Kansas on August 26, 1932, to Hays and Luella Petersilie McDonald. She was a member of the community since the 1940s when her family moved from Ness County, then briefly Wallace County before settling in Greeley County to farm and ranch.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tribune, a Charter member of the Greeley County Historical Society, and was Greeley County’s Historian. She was also a member of the Kansas State Anthropological Society and held her amateur archeology degree. Nadine also held an AS degree in Criminology.
Nadine was a longtime farmer and rancher alongside her husband, Melvin Cheney, whom she married on March 9, 1952. He passed away in Tribune in 2021.
Nadine is survived by her two children, Marylin & Mark Kleymann of Tribune, Kansas, Tad Cheney of Phoenix, Arizona, her grandchildren Jason & Kellee Kleymann of Tribune, Kansas, Erin Kleymann & Justin Griffin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her great-grandchildren Cyril & Clark Kleymann of Tribune, Kansas, three sisters Elaine McCaslin of Tribune, Kansas, Theoma Ingram of Tribune, Kansas, Thyra Thompson of Wichita, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nadine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Mira Jane Cheney.
