Robert Lee “Bobby” Johnson, 72, died Wednesday,
Sept. 21, at The Ranch House in Garden City. He was
born January 26, 1950, in Garden City, Kansas the son of John H.
Johnson, Sr. & Vivian Marie (King) Johnson.
Bobby has been a lifetime resident of Garden City. He attended
Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School. Bobby
began his working career as a truck driver for Hitch Feeders but was
mostly known as a longtime owner and operator of Bob’s Auto Repair. He
enjoyed spending his time watching NASCAR, working on motors, race cars,
attending car shows, and joining his friends for breakfast.
Survivors include a brother John H. Johnson Jr. of Garden City; a
sister Carol and husband Jim Taylor of Garden City; a niece Sonja
Taylor of Garden City; two nephews Aaron and wife Carey Austin of
Derby, and Courtney and wife Misty Johnson of Holcomb; a
great-nephew Kai Johnson; and a great-niece Vivian Austin.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters Toni Johnson, Tommy Austin, and Sue Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev.
Joel Plisek officiating. A private family interment will take place at a
later date. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and
from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday all at Garnand Funeral Home in
Garden City.
