Gary D. Kitch, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Rice County Hospital in Lyons, Kansas. He was born on July 26, 1937, in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Charles & Merle Hull Kitch. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas until 2022 moving to Sterling, Kansas, he was the owner and operator of Kitch Packing Company for 34 years in Scott City, Kansas.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas, and was a past city council member.
Gary grew up in Scott City, KS where he graduated from Scott Community High School in 1955. He was an avid sports fan. He played many different sports in school and followed sports his entire life. If you wanted to know the score of any ballgame, all you had to do was ask. He was a quiet man but had a quick sense of humor and a very ornery side. His hobbies included leatherwork, making silver jewelry, and photography. He loved spending time with his family and really enjoyed his grandchildren.
Survivors include his One Daughter - Traci & Lynn Taylor of Sterling, Kansas, One Son - Tad Kitch & Tami Bloedorn of Dighton, Kansas, Two Sister - Georgia & Bob Plum of Dodge City, Kansas, Peggy Kitch of Castle Rock, Colorado, Four Grandchildren, and Ten Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Brother, One Infant Daughter, and a Great Grandson.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with Adam Taylor presiding.
