Dwight Dean Heikes, 83, of Norton, KS passed away August 24, 2022, at
Whispering Pines. He was born May 30, 1939, on the family farm in
Dellvale, KS to LaMoine R. and Opal M. (Pratt) Heikes.
Dwight attended Lenora Grade School and graduated from Lenora High
School. He joined the Army in 1962 and served for the National Guard for
over 37 years, he worked full time in the maintenance division in
Norton. Dwight married Kathy on June 20, 1981. He was a beloved member
of the Enfield Funeral Home family and staff for many years before his
retirement.
Dwight was a member of Odd Fellows (Past Nobel Grand) since 1958 and
Eagles Lodge (Charter member and Past President) since 1966. He also
served with the Boy Scout and Cub Scouts on the District level and was
on the board for the Norton Andbe Home.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, LaMoine and Opal; wife,
Kathy, and brother, Dennis. He is survived by his children: Pam Heikes
of Lawrence, KS and Brian Heikes of Shawnee, KS; stepchildren: Damian
Campbell of Parker, CO, Darren Campbell of Hays, KS, and Kerie Donahy of
Wichita, KS; brother, Donald (Gloria) Heikes of Lenora, KS; nine
grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life with military honors will be held 10:00 am
Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Norton Cemetery.
