Ronald Rome, age 66, passed away November 7, 2022, at his home in Hays, Kansas, following a courageous battle against cancer.
Ron was born May 18, 1956, to Pete and Patricia (Gardner) Rome in Garden City, Kansas. He was a graduate of TMP-Marian and was the owner of Steel Fabrications Inc., in Hays.
Ron married Carol Rohr, in 1976, and from this union they were blessed with three children: Jordan, Jarrett and Jenna.
Ron was an avid gardener, fisherman, loved the ocean and spending time with his family, if there was any physicality to a vacation or excursion, Ron was the first in line. Museums, his aquarium, fossils, geology, and astronomy were a few of his passions, but family was his greatest love. Ron was a kind, honest man, father, grandfather, and friend.
Surviving family members include: Carol Rome, son: Jordan Rome, daughter: Jenna Rome Darrah, granddaughters: Camdyn Darrah and Caelyn Darrah, mother-in-law: Lillian (Gerstner) Rohr, all residing in Hays. Brothers: Joseph (Anna Mae) Rome, of Holcomb, KS; Mark (Sue) Rome, of Phoenix, AZ; Patrick (Liza) Rome, of El Paso, TX; Timothy (Irene) Rome, of Garden City, KS; Gary (Lisa) Rome, of Woodlands, TX; sisters: Ann Marie Jones, of Lansdowne, VA; Marilyn (Alex) Vest, of Palmer Lake, CO; Teresa Rome, of Colorado Springs, CO; and Lea Rome, of Goodland, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Jarrett, his father and mother, brothers: Nicholas and Paul, and father-in-law: Julius J. Rohr.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 East 13th Street, Hays, KS 67601, inurnment will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery - Hays. Ron's family will also receive guests on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial Visitation will take place Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM with a combined parish vigil and rosary at 7:00 PM at Brocks's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, KS 67601.
Memorials are suggested for Masses, or to be used at the discretion of the family.
