Orva Jean Wolfe, 96, died April 23, 2022, at Wesley Towers. She was born February 24, 1926, in Otis, KS, the daughter of Ben and Dena (Hergert) Scheuerman.
Orva Jean graduated from La Crosse High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Hays State, in 1948. While at Fort Hays, she met, fell in love, and was united in marriage with Charles (Jack) Wolfe January 24, 1947, in Bazine, KS. They were blessed with two children, Kent and Kathy Jo.
Orva Jean was a devoted wife and homemaker to her children. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Bolinger Agency in Bucklin, Curtis Machine Company of Dodge City, and retired as a bookkeeper at Bucklin Co-op in 1988. She also belonged to several Federated clubs in Bucklin and the Bucklin UMW, where she served as secretary for many years.
In 2007, she moved to Hutchinson to be closer to family. Orva Jean’s biggest enjoyment was spending time with family, especially her grandson, Dakota, and watching him grow up to be a caring soul like herself.
While in Hutchinson, Orva Jean resided at Wesley Towers. She enjoyed her time there, made many dear friends, and was loved by all.
Orva Jean is survived by: son, Kent Wolfe and wife, Sonya; grandson, Dakota Wolfe, all of Hutchinson; and a brother, Paul Scheuerman, of Otis.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ben and Dena Scheuerman; husband, Charles; daughter, Kathy Jo Wolfe; and brother, Gail Scheuerman.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
