Chyrl Ann (Peter) Spurlock, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.
Chyrl was born on March 28, 1944, at Boothroy Memorial Hospital in Goodland, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Eleanor (Tyrrell) Peter. She graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1962.
Over the years you could find Chyrl working at The Model Laundry Cleaners or Goodland Cable TV. Or perhaps with many friends at the Ladies bowling league. Chyrl was a huge supporter of High School sports, but her passion was following Barry and the Goodland Cowboy wrestling team. Chryl moved for a time to Rexford, Ks where she managed the Rexford Café. While in Rexford she was know as “Mom” to all of Sharla’s friends.
In August of 1991, she started working at the Goodland Regional Medical Center as a cook, and later as a certified Dietary Manager for 23 years. On September 17, 1991, she married Russell Dick Spurlock in Cheyenne Wells, CO. They made their home south of Ruleton, KS.
The surviving family includes her husband Russell Spurlock, son Barry Peter and Natasha Busby of Wichita, KS, daughter Sharla Hamilton of Wichita, KS and stepdaughter Raney Burkhart of Texas. She is also survived by her siblings David Peter and partner De Anne Larrow of Lander, WY, Kim & husband Don Newell of Goodland, KS; four grandchildren, Spencer Hamilton, Seth Hamilton, Stephanie Lowrie, and William Pratt; step grandchildren, Dustin, Lacey and Mathew Burkhart, niece Tara Peter and nephew Todd Peter both of Lander, WY; uncle Ben (Barbara) Peter of Topeka, KS, as well as loving cousins on both sides of the Peter and Tyrrell family tree.
Preceding her in death were her parents; Raymond & Eleanor, mother and father-in-law Viola and Rusty Spurlock, one sister Cynthia, a son Rondell, a sister-in-law DaLynn Peter and a niece Kasie Peter, and many aunts and uncles.
