Alfrieda Dinges

Alfrieda Dinges, age 90, of Schoenchen, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Via Christi Village in Hays. She was born June 30, 1932, in Liebenthal, Kansas, to Bernard and Mary (Depperschmidt) Herrman. She married Gilbert “Bucks” Dinges in Liebenthal, in 1950. They had celebrated 64 years of marriage at the time of Bucks passing on July 7, 2014.

Alfrieda worked at several positions including being a cook for the Schoenchen School for over twenty years, owned the Snow White Restaurant and Rock Haven with Bucks, Election Board Officer and was a long time Sacristan for St. Anthony Church.

Alfrieda was a foster parent, proud supporter of TMP-Marian and other religious organizations. She was a member of St. Anthony Church and Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and the Sunflower Polka Club. She was passionate about being a caretaker, cooking and entertaining.

She is survived by her son, Jason Dinges and wife Beryl of Hays; a daughter,  Karen (Dinges) Staab and husband Pat of Hays; a sister, Vera Mock of Wichita; grandchildren, Joshua Dinges and wife Sarah, Matthew Dinges and wife Onjie, Zachary Dinges and wife Michelle, Kourtney Gross, and Megan Staab; and  great grandchildren, Twins Javon and Leia Searight, Carter Dinges, and Naomi Dinges.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth Joe Dinges; a daughter, Beverly (Dinges) Gross; and a granddaughter, Sammy Staab.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 3, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday 5 PM – 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM -9:30 AM all at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.

A combined Daughters of Isabella and Schoenchen Altar Society Rosary Service will be Friday at 6:30 PM followed by a Parish Vigil Service at 7 PM all at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Anthony Church or the Daughters of Isabella.
