Darletta “Darla” Sue (Lewis) Sealock, age 61 of Hoxie, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Brookdale of College Square in Overland Park, Kansas Darla was born February 21, 1963, in Hoxie, Kansas to Delbert and Dorthoy “Dottie” (Randolph) Lewis. Darla grew up in Hoxie and attended the Hoxie School graduating with the class of 1981. Darla was united in marriage to Lester Phillip Sealock on August 15, 1981, at the Hoxie Christian Church. Darla and Les lived in Hoxie where they raised their family.
Darla attended and graduated from the Hays Academy of Hair Design. She worked with Annette Follis as a cosmetologist. While she enjoyed working as a cosmetologist, she enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She loved her grandbabies and was very possessive of them. The annual Lewis Family Reunion was something Darla never missed. She was an excellent cook, loved to travel, and loved working outside with her flowers. Darla and Les loved to dance, and she was ready to go anytime there was a dance. Another favorite thing Darla enjoyed was going on “sister trips.” She was a part of the Sheridan County Benefit Walk organizational team for many years. She enjoyed helping others whenever she could. Darla was a devout Christian loving and serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Darla was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Lester “Les” Phillip Sealock of Hoxie, Kansas; children, Deadria Lewis (Dustin) of Osawatomie, Kansas, Shaylin Sealock of Hoxie, Kansas, Taunie Sealock of Oakley, Kansas, and Britton Sealock and fiancé’ Jasmine of Hoxie, Kansas; father, Delbert Lewis; mother-in-law, Wanda Sealock; sisters, Deb Smith (Daniel), Daylene Tracy (Jim), and Daresa Denis (Roger); brother Doug Lewis (Bonnie); and grandchildren, Persephanie Sealock, Rogan Lewis, Reid Lewis, Rory Lewis, Zipporah Torres, Mila Martinez, and Harvey Sealock.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorthoy “Dottie” Lewis; infant sister, Deanna Lewis; and father-in-law, Phillip Sealock.
A funeral service is planned for February 28, 2024, at the Christ Community Church, Hoxie, Kansas, 10:30 A.M. with burial following in the Hoxie City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Christ Community Church, February 27, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. With family receiving friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
