Roy Lee McFrederick, 74, passed away on March 29, 2023, at University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kan. He was born on March 1, 1949, in Wichita, Kan., to Roy Lewis and Josephine Mary (Chan) McFrederick.
An area resident of Ellinwood and Great Bend coming from Wichita, Roy worked as a mechanical engineer. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Roy was a member of Prince of Peace Parish – St. Rose of Lima Church and VFW, and enjoyed watching T.V., collecting DVDs, and especially loved his dogs.
Survivors include a son, Adrien McFrederick of Hume, Mo.; three sisters, Ruth McFredrick of St. John, Kan., Sr. Amy McFrederick of South Bend, Ind., and Nita (Randy) Trantham of Leeds, Ala.; nieces and nephews, John, Stephanie, Leslie, Terri, Billy, Chaz, Audrey, Michael, Brigette, and Mark. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Bill” McFrederick; and infant sisters, Mary Evangeline and Rita Jane.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Dominican Sisters of Peace, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
