
Lewis “Glenn” Hartnett, 72, of North Platte, Nebraska, formerly of Palco, Kansas, passed away on February 26, 2025, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdredge, Nebraska. Glenn was born on April 29, 1952, in Plainville, Kansas to Bluford II and Naomi (McClay) Hartnett. He married Jeanette Skolout on June 7, 1975, in Colby, Kansas and together they were blessed with three children, Ashley, Luke, and Holly. Jeanette passed away on January 12, 2017. He was blessed to have met his next life partner, Jo Bay and continued a beautiful journey with her and her family.
A 1970 graduate of Plainville High School, Glenn worked as a Track Inspector for the railroad. While he wasn’t particularly fond of pets, they seemed to always gravitate toward him. Glenn also participated in the Kansas Senior Golf Association’s Kansas Senior Series, enjoying the game well into his later years.
Glenn is survived by his loving life partner, Jo Bay of North Platte, NE; children, Luke (Carie) Hartnett of Kansas City, MO, Ashley Hartnett of Topeka, KS, and Holly (Jarod) Hartnett of Salina, KS; Jo’s children, Jason (Mary) Ottis, Amber (Kevin) McKay; and grandchildren, Harrison Haines, and Roenan, Darby, Raef, Franki and Pax Haselhortst, Madelyn & Nora Ottis, and Avery McKay.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bluford and Naomi Hartnett; step-mom, Nadine Hartnett; wife, Jeanette Hartnett; and sister, Vicky Laehn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 10AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville, KS with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A book signing will be held on Thursday 3:00 until 8 p.m. with a Vigil and Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Plainville.
