Mayra Elizabeth Lucero, 17, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born May 18, 2005, in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Fannie Rios and Mark Lucero.

Mayra has been a lifetime resident of Garden City. She attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School on May 14, 2022. She graduated early and was ready for college at Fort Hays State University to pursue her career as a nurse, in order to save lives. Mayra was loving, caring and most outgoing. She never held a grudge and always looked ahead in life.

Mayra was a sister, niece, daughter, and a friend who always looked out for everyone. She was the humblest teen and always made sure to put others first. Mayra left this world as the hero she wanted to be by saving the lives of others as an organ donor. That’s exactly what she died; she saved 4 loves when she gained her wings.
