W.N. “Bill” Bryant, 97, died on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Lane
County Hospital in Dighton. He was born on January 30, 1925, in Lane
County the Son of M.G. (Marion General) and Hazel Virginia (Newman)
Bryant.
Bill graduated from Dighton High School in 1943 and entered the United
States Army to fight World War II. He was very proud of his service in
the 160th Army Combat Engineers under General Patton. His company
landed at Normandy and he received the Purple Heart after being shot in
the Battle of the Bulge at Luxemburg, Germany. He found himself
following in almost the same footsteps that his father traveled in World
War I in Germany and France. After his discharge he returned to the
family farm and was a lifelong farmer in Lane County. He was a member
of the United Methodist Church of Dighton.
He is survived by his Sister- Virginia “Ginger” Bryant Rankin, Nephew-
Bryant (LuAnn) Schultz, 2 Nieces- Gini (Bill) Driskill and Heather
Colleen (David) Underwood, Great-Nephews- Caleb Schultz, Marion Schultz,
Joe Schultz, Aaron Schultz, Kevin Schultz & Kasha Driskill,
Great-Nieces- Margo Schultz Elder, Michelle Schultz Fullmer & Damian
Driskill Glenk, 10 Great-Great-Nephews and 13 Great-Great-Nieces.
Per Bill’s wishes there will no be formal services, but a gathering for
family and friends will be at a later date.
