Dorlene Elsa Radke Steele went to meet her heavenly father on Sept 29, 2022. She was born September 24, 1925, in Milberger, Russell County, Kansas, to William Fredrick Radke and Ida Magdalena Karst Radke.
As a child, Dorlene attended a one room country school house in Milberger, Kansas. She graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, Kansas, in 1945 with Honors. Dorlene married William Lenard Steele on January 16, 1946, in Russell, Kansas, he preceded her in death on January 19, 1993. Dorlene worked for Dr. EC Elfert in Hutchinson, Kansas before moving to Dodge City, in 1955, where she worked for Dr. WJ Holman for 33 years until his retirement. She then worked for Dr. Glen Mitchell until her retirement in 2001. Dorlene worked as a dental receptionist and chair side assistant for a total of 53 years, she loved her work. Family was extremely important to her, one of her most valuable gifts was her ability to make each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren feel so loved. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and had a lot of class, style, grace and a contagious smile.
As an infant, Dorlene was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and confirmed in 1940 by Rev. Gemelich of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger, Kansas. She was a member of the Social Order of Beauceant and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 97, Dorlene received her 25-year membership pin in 2013. Dorlene was a member of SKAVI, Southwest Kansas Association of the Visually Impaired.
Dorlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Harvey E. Radke, Marvin L. Radke,sister; Lorene (Radke) Kahler and one grandson, William J. Steele.
Dorlene is survived by her four children; Cyrilla Petracek of Emporia, Kansas, Patricia Trotter of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, William Steele and wife Pam of Nixa, Missouri, Roxanne Beck and husband Pat, Dodge City, Kansas, 9 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday October 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM with Mr. Ken Winter and Mr. Kurt Lampe presiding. Entombment will follow at Scroggins Memorial Mausoleum in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
