Michael "Mike" Dean Hines, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the age of 67.
Mike was born on January 26, 1957. He was the oldest son of Daniel J. and Helen (Arnhold) Hines Jr. On October 9, 1981, he married JoLynne Younger. They raised their three children together, and later separated.
Mike was a long time resident of Hays, KS. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to his garden. He worked as an equipment operator for Fleenor Dirt Construction and hauled oil rigs for Discovery Drilling.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Clayton Hines of Ellinwood; and Corey Hines (Kye Werth) of Hays; one daughter, Cally Hines of McPherson; three brothers, Rick Hines of Colorado; Jerry (Maria) Hines of Wichita; and Danny Hines of Hutchinson; his seven grandchildren, Brayden (Katie Gottschalk); Myles; Desiree; McKeena; Brody; Chevelle; and Koell; one great grandchild, Elsie; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents Daniel J. and Marcella (Peter) Hines Sr.; maternal grandparents Lawrence F. and Martina (Wolf) Arnhold; and a sister-in-law, Linda Hines.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays with Rev. Troy Miller officiating. Cremation has taken place, and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. Saturday, until service times at the mortuary.
