Kanorado, KS resident Mark Dale Swayne, 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home NE of Kanorado on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
Mark was born on May 1, 1959, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Ted and Gertrude Swayne. He was one of 4 children. He attended grade school in Kanorado, KS and graduated from Goodland High School.
Over the years, Mark farmed with his dad, worked with Rick Farris custom harvesting and for the past 20 years Mark worked for Nutrein Agricultural Company.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing as well as helping with wheat and corn harvest. He was active in the Goodland Elks Lodge and was honored as Elk of the year in 1988 and 1989. Mark was very active as a Jaycees National Senator and involved in Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma Jaycees.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rudolph and Christina (Lippert) Schritter and Henry Sr. and Ethel (Doggett) Swayne and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving family includes his parents Ted and Gertrude Swayne of Goodland, Kansas, two brothers, Dr. Marlyn Swayne (Brenda) of Hays, KS, Marvin Swayne (Cindy) of Wichita, KS, one sister, Marlene Vickrey (Brad) of McPherson, KS. He is also survived by two nieces, Michelle Goff (Spencer), Dr. Shannon Swayne (Dusty), one nephew, Ryan Swayne (Elizabeth), two great nephews, Mason Goff and Jackson Swayne and one great niece Aeris Goff.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 AM also at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland with Father Don Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pheasants Forever or Sherman County 4-H and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
