Donna Pearl Swanson (1923-2023)

Donna Pearl Swanson peacefully passed away on April 6, 2023, at the
North Platte Care Center at the age of 100.

Donna was born to George and Clara Johnson on March 12, 1923, at
Stockville where she grew up.  After graduating high school, she attended
Kearney State Teacher's College and earned her teaching certificate. 
Donna then taught in Frontier County for 9 terms and had a career with
the post office.  She was a rural mail carrier for 10 years and
Postmaster for a short time.

On November 30, 1939, Donna was united in marriage to Robert 'Dean'
Hinton in Oberlin, KS.  They made their home on the farm, east of
Stockville, and were there until Dean's death in 1971.

On January 8, 1972, Donna married Raymond Swanson in McCook. They lived east of Culbertson and a few other places until retiring to North
Platte.  Ray passed away in 2013.

Donna was a member of the Church of Christ.  She loved farm life and
enjoyed hosting guests.

Along with her husbands, Donna was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, Millard, Irvin and Eleanor Johnson, Jenny Gardner,
Dora Weiss and Rebecca Metcalf Shanholts; her foster daughter, DeAnna
Rains; and two grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her sons, Deloit (Carol) Hinton of Pleasanton, CA,
Everett (Ann) Hinton of Hastings and Laurence (Tamara) Hinton of North Platte; daughters, Bernita (John) Owens of Stockville and Lorraine
Herrick (Craig Redfield) of Champion, NE; her step children, Jerry
(Donna) Swanson of Loveland, CO, Rodney (Connie) Swanson of Foster City, CA, Judie (Larry) Brewster of Worland, WY, and Rona Swanson (Sam
Tomaino) of Visalia, CA; foster daughter, Dona (Lahai) Sogbandi of
Denver; 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great
great-grandchildren; and other family.

Services will be Friday, April 14, 2023, at the North Platte Church of
Christ (3311 S. Oak St).  Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by
funeral service at 11 a.m.  Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in the Stockville
Cemetery.  Services will be livestreamed on facebook at Church of Christ

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Nebraska Youth Camp.  Odean
Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
