Darrell Lee Schremmer, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 15, 2024.

He was born July 13, 1951, in Great Bend, to Joseph John and Teresa Rosalia (Steiner) Schremmer.

Darrell graduated from Great Bend High School in 1969. He then went to Fort Hays State University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated with a business degree.

After graduation Darrell continued living in Hays, working as a loan officer for Farmers State Bank for many years. He eventually moved back to Great Bend, before finding his home in Hutchinson. Darrell was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He became the treasurer, followed by the Grand Knight of Council 612. While in Hutchinson, Darrell worked for APAC of Kansas Shears Division before his retirement in 2018.

Darrell spent his time playing pitch, watching sports, placing bets, and going on yearly fishing trips to Canada, South Dakota, and Texoma, shucking corn in Nebraska, playing golf (he was a proud member of the hole-in-one club) and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Darrell is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Wamser of Gardner, and Jodi Brazda and husband Branden of Hays; grandchildren, Brayden, Brylee, and Brystal Wamser and Keenan and Bowen Brazda; brother, Alan Schremmer and wife Janet of Great Bend; two nieces, Lori and Denise; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Teresa; and infant brother, Dennis.

Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Elliott Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Saint Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. Fifth Avenue, Hutchinson. Private burial will be Monday, Jan. 22, in the Great Bend City Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Knights of Columbus Council No. 612 or Saint Teresa Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
