Donna Marie Burghardt was born July 1, 1924, and lived with her parents, Harlan and Thelma (English) Dettweiler on a farm just west of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She married LeRoy Edwin Burghardt on December 31, 1941, and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage before Roy’s passing on October 9, 2002.
Marie and Roy had three children: her only son, Ron (Sandra of Hastings, NE), who also preceded her in death, December 13, 2003, and two daughters, Janet (Rich McDaneld) Waters of Osborne, KS and Phyllis (Monte) Johnson of Atlanta, GA.
Marie and Roy enjoyed taking their travel trailer throughout the continental United States and Canada. She enjoyed crocheting and was kept busy making baby blankets for her eleven (11) grandchildren, twenty-two (22) great-grandchildren and thirty-four (34) great-great-grandchildren.
Marie went home to be with Jesus on April 20, 2024, at the age of 99, less than three months from her goal of surviving until her 100th birthday.
