Barbara Jean Mikessell was born June 26, 1953, in Alma, NE to Bobby Duane
and Betty Ann (Miller) Dietz. She passed away May 18, 2022, at the
Norton County Hospital at the age of 68.
Barb grew up on the farm in rural Orleans, NE. She was a 1973
graduate of Orleans High School. Barb met her husband, Dick Mikessell,
while working at a hair salon in Orleans. They were married for 18 years
before his passing. For the last 15 years, she has shared her life with
Delvis Miller. Barb worked with Delvis at Miller Aviation up until he
retired. They loved traveling together and most recently they spent the
winters in the Florida Keys. The adventures they shared brought so much
joy to her life. Barb had a very special place in her heart for her
great granddaughter, Remi; she loved the time they spent together. She
was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Norton.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Dick and mother, Betty.
She is survived by her significant other, Delvis Miller of Norton;
father, Bobby Dietz of Lexington, NE; brother, Bryan Dietz of rural
Orleans, NE; sisters, Brenda (Mike) Moore of Lexington, NE and Beverly
(Jim) Moore of Glenvil, NE; stepdaughter, Amy Blackburn of Phillipsburg,
KS; grandchildren: Whitney (Jace) Winder, Jay Mulder, Jesse Blackburn
and Halee Blackburn; great granddaughter, Remi; nieces: Rachel (Tony)
Alina, and Emily and great nephew and niece, Westyn and Tenley.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at
the Norton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagles
Auxiliary and may be sent in care of Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, 215 W.
