James E. “Jim” Bieler, 82, Hays, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at HaysMed.
He was born July 13, 1939, in Hays, the youngest of nine children of Thomas and Julia (Hauschild) Bieler. Growing up on a Kansas farm where he lived for over 70 years, Jim helped his family work the land and raise livestock, eventually taking over the farm upon the death of his parents. His love for rural living, farming, and his dogs continued throughout his lifetime.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews: Mary Jo Hartman (Jim), Donna Dewey, April Dorsey-Tyler, Mark Brown, Wilma Diefenbach-Jones (Dale), Robin Engel (Steve A.), Steve Cartwright, Tom Brown (Joan), and Eric Brown (Judy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Walt, Burgess, and Bill Bieler, five sisters: Jeanette Cartwright, Juanita Diefenbach, Helen Brown, Edith Dorsey, and Lucille Bieler, and a nephew: Kenneth Bieler.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Stanton Officiating.
