HANSTON—William Earnest Coleman, 93, passed away Dec. 21, 2022, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
He was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Mineral Springs, Ark., the son of Robert Jonathan and Cular Barrett Coleman. William served in the United States Army from Feb. 4, 1948, to Sept. 1, 1969, where he served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He moved from Hooks, Texas, to Hanston, 35 years ago, where he was a Civil Service agent and a farmer.
He was a member of the Hanston United Methodist Church and Army Historical Foundation National Museum.
On Nov. 15, 1957, he married Mary Etta Korf at Fort Carson, Colo. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Gail A. Coleman, Hanston; sister-in-law, Ada Joyce Coleman, Ark.; brother-in-law, Carrol Wilson, La.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ray Coleman, Frank Coleman, Lonzo Coleman; and two sisters, Nona May Wilson and Hattie Lee Hawthorn.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Hanston United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Mtuamwari and Ron Ruff presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be at the Hanston Cemetery with military graveside rites.
