Art Woodcock was born March 15, 1936. He passed away on December 13, 2023, at SunPorch of Smith County in Smith Center, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; baby sister & his wonderful loving friend and companion Evelyn Mankhey.

Art was a retired petroleum inspector. He attended the Gaylord schools for all 12 years. He was an outstanding baseball pitcher and basketball player. Ray Olson, who was Art’s Legion coach said he was one of the best he ever coached.

Art managed or coached 5 state championship teams in Salina. He was an avid KU fan and would let you know it.

Art was very proud of his service in the Marines and his uniform. He was a life member of Mt. Surabachi Marine Corp League and Smith Center American Legion. He was very proud of his 3 sons and their accomplishments. They worked & studied hard to achieve their goals. Art hated suits and ties and said bury me in a KU National Championship shirt. He always had Evelyn by his side and tried to show her his love and affection through the 22 years.

Art is survived by his 3 sons Lyle, Jeff and Rick; daughter-in-law Roxanna Woodcock; Kim (Stan) Smith, Pam Harrison and Rod Mankhey and grandkids.
