With heavy hearts, but uplifted eyes, we announce the passing of Marcia L. Carter, on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was greeted at heaven’s gates by those who passed before her, her mother, Clara Riddle in 2006, son, Cory Nickel in 1969, brother Marshall Manning in 1962 and sister, Lila Walz in 2011.
Marcia was born on June 14, 1945, in Oberlin, Kansas, to Clarence “Bud” and Clara (Counter) Manning. The family moved to Oakley in the early 1950s. Marcia graduated from Oakley High School in 1963. She eventually moved to Salina and married Michael Carter on November 9, 1979.
Marcia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1987. Although she faced many health challenges related to this diagnosis, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ compelled her to maintain a positive attitude and outlook on life that is, and always will be, an example to us all.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband Michael; stepfather, Roy Riddle; sons, Dion (Mary) Nickel, Troy (Susan) Nickel, all of Salina; granddaughters, Miranda (Preston) Murchison, of Lenexa, KS, Sandra (Brett) Jensen, of Waxhaw, NC, Savannah (Jack) Mangelsdorf, of Lawrence, KS; great-granddaughter, Everly Murchison, of Lenexa; brother, Ray (Linda) Manning, of Oakley, KS; sister Cindy (John) Koch, of Edmond, OK and brother, Derek (Michele) McKellips, of Salina.
Memorial services have already taken place. Burial was in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
