Ramey Jean Herrman, 78, passed away December 4, 2022, at her home in Ellinwood. She was born in Nashville, Tenn. on November 6, 1944, to Lowry Smith, Sr. & Margaret (Fowler) Smith. She married Ronnie Smith in 1964 at Lincoln and they later divorced. She then married Leo Leroy Herrman Sr. on December 18, 1987, at Great Bend. He died September 13, 2015.
A longtime area resident, Ramey lived in Ellinwood currently. She was a CNA for Woodhaven Care Center until her retirement at the age of 64. She was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Great Bend and enjoyed spending time with her family and church family.
Survivors include, her five daughters, Karen Holloway (Mike) of Holt Summit, Mo., Donna Smith of Hoisington, Sonia Amerine of Ellinwood, Kim McLemore (Jason) of Medicine Lodge and Connie Carr (Isaac) of Otis; a son, Halen Herrman of Great Bend; her four stepsons, Leo L. Herrman, Jr., John Herrman, Michael Herrman all of Great Bend and Andrew Herrman of Odessa, Tex.; a brother, Lowry Smith, Jr. of Nevada, Mo., a sister, Doris Handy of Orlando, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with one on the way; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Oakley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Herrman, Sr.; a sister, Ann Osborne; and a granddaughter, Miranda Ramey Smith.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Curtis Reinhardt presiding. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.
