Barbara A. George, 89, of Salina, passed away on
Wednesday October 26, 2022, at Paramount Health Care in Newton, KS. She
was born March 27, 1933, in Plainville, KS to George (Bud) and Ruth
Johnson. She married Leon George June 1, 1951, and they celebrated 50
years of marriage before his death in April 2002.
Barbara was a very busy homemaker raising their six children and after
her youngest started school she entered the workforce in 1970 in the
dietary department at the former Asbury Hospital. Barbara retired in
1985 and she and Leon spent their retirement years traveling in their
RV, fishing and camping. Most of all, she loved spending time with her
children and their growing families. Barbara was a proud member of
Daughters of the American Revolution. She was very active the past 20
years in TOPS and was Leader of her club for several consecutive years.
She attended the First United Methodist Church and was a faithful
Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for over 10 years.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon; son, Steven; and sisters EveElda Johnson and Georgina Mulkey.
She is survived by her children Debra (Bob) Klein, Karin (Steve) Ashton,
Stephanie (Don) Lentz, Shara McMichael and Lonnie George; 16
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
