Ingalls- Dennis E. “Denny” Maxwell, 74, died on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Halsey Hall, Kansas Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge. He was born on September 7, 1948 at Dodge City the son of Robert & Dorothy (Rixon) Maxwell.

He married Donna J. Fickler on May 27, 1972 at Garden City.

Denny graduated from Ingalls High School in 1966 where he was on the basketball, football and track teams.

He spent one year at Garden City Community College before enlisting in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea where he was a helicopter crew chief, mainly flying the General between the DMZ and the base.

After his discharge he returned to the area and worked at Oswalt Manufacturing for a year before becoming a lifelong farmer on the family farm in Gray County. He retired in 2020.

He was a member of St James Lutheran Church, Harry H. Renick American Legion Post #9 and John J. Haskell VFW Post # 2279. He enjoyed building, painting and riding in his Volkswagen dune buggies, NASCAR and Kansas State University Football.

He is survived by his wife Donna J. Maxwell, son Aaron and Audrey Maxwell of Ingalls, sisters Connie Clendennen of Blair, Oklahoma and Pam Kitch of Great Bend, and grandchildren Shae Maxwell, Gavin Maxwell and Clayton Maxwell.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev Tim Hickey officiating. Military Hhonors will be provided by the United State Army 1st Infantry Division of Fort Riley, Kansas Honor Guard.

Memorials are suggested to Kansas Soldiers Home, Fort Dodge in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
