Vera Mary (Sander) Hoffman, age 88, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Homestead, in Hays.
She was born June 7, 1935, on the family farm north of Walker to Anton and Rosa (Nemechek) Sander.
On May 30, 1964, she married James (Jim) Hoffman in Hays. She was a wife, homemaker, and babysitter for neighbors, friends, and family. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hays. She enjoyed listening to Jim play his piano and playing Bingo at Homestead. Her best years were being with Jim, the love of her life.
She is survived by three sisters; Sister Helen Sander, Fond du Lac, WI; Lillian Nowak, Salina, KS; Rosie Nash, Dallas, TX; and a brother, Lawrence Sander, Salina, KS; sister-in-law, Lillian Pfeifer, Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Evelyn Sander, Mary Schuster Deines, Sophie Zerr, Sister Viola Sander, two brothers, Daniel Sander, and Louis Sander.

Services will be held Monday, April 22, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be at the church prior to service at 9:00 AM, with rosary at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Walker, Kansas.
