James “Jim” Albert Conley, 76, died January 5, 2024, at his home in Great Bend, Kan. He was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Seminole, Texas, the son of Albert and Mahota J. (Blackerby) Conley. He moved to Great Bend in 1981, coming from Oklahoma. Jim worked in the oilfield for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could tell fish stories with the best of them. He had a passion for making lures and if you were lucky enough to receive them, consider yourself a true friend.
Jim married Vera (Staudinger) Patterson in 1983. They spent many days fishing and picking sandhill plums. He is survived by Vera Conley; two sons, Jimmy Conley and Jordan Conley (Laurel); stepchildren, Karen Herl (Glenn), Keith Patterson (Cindy), Connie Piland, Cathy Crain (Tracy), Kevin Patterson (Lori); nieces, Rachel, Catherine and Sarah; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanne Imes; and nephew, Jonathan Imes. A Memorial Reception will be had 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at the Parish Center at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4100 Broadway, Great Bend.
