Mildred Minnie (Hermanns) Grauerholz passed away on August 27, 2022.
She was born on November 28, 1921. Mildred grew up on a farm south of
Athol, Kansas. She married Lester Grauerholz, also of rural Athol, and
together they reared three children. She was active in the St. John
Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing the piano, helped with farm chores, and
was noted for being an excellent seamstress and cook. Family and field
hands alike always looked forward to her pies and desserts. She was
generous with her time and put the needs of others ahead of her own.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Sophia
(Engelke) Hermanns, her husband Lester, her daughters Patricia
Gerstenkorn and Grace Hainke, her son-in-law Don Gerstenkorn and
daughter-in-law Diane (Woods) Grauerholz, and great grandchild Kyle
Begin.
She is survived by her son James (Kay) Grauerholz of Wichita, KS,
son-in-law Gary (Elizabeth) Hainke, Kensington, KS, and grandchildren
Mitchell Gerstenkorn of Lakewood, CO, Andra Gerstenkorn of Evergreen,
CO, James “Bob” (Jeanne) Grauerholz of Valley Center, KS, Julie (Tony)
Schaar of Valley Center, KS, Michael Grauerholz of Wichita, KS, Leslie
(Garrett) Brown of Luray, KS, and Natalie (Chuck) Knipp of Palco, KS.
She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
