Vernon “Vern” Eugene Wasinger, 85 retired banker, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2022. Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was born in Hays, KS on August 7, 1936. He attended grade school in Antonino and Hays, KS and was very proud to be a graduate of St. Josephs Military Academy in Hays, KS.
Vernon worked in banking for 50 years and treasured his lifelong friends he made along the way. He worked for Fourth Financial Corporation in Wichita for 30 years and completed his banking career at Bankers Bank of Kansas in consulting and business development.
Vernon had many hobbies. He loved fine art and was an artist and cartoonist himself. He was a gun engraver and fast draw performer. He enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Vernon loved classic cars and collecting antique radios was his favorite pastime. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Above all, he enjoyed time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell.
Vernon is preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Wasinger; stepson, Todd Rusk; grandchildren,Jonathan and Emily Boswell; parents, Alex and Henrietta Wasinger; and brother, Ronald Wasinger. He is survived by his children, Jolene (Mike) Boswell of Wichita, Tim (Annette) Wasinger of Andover, Brian (Lisa) Wasinger of Edmond OK, and Pam (Jeff) Black of Tulsa OK; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all who knew him.
Open viewing will be Sunday, May 29, from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East Chapel. Rosary will be at 9:30 am, Tuesday May 31 with Funeral Mass to follow at 10 am,both at Church of the Magdalen Wichita KS. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery.
