Susan Dee Thomson, 72, of Norton, KS passed away on May 9, 2023 at the Norton County Hospital. She was born April 21, 1951 in Norton to Doyle and Audrey (Biesterfeld) Quenzer.
Susan grew up in Norton and was a 1969 graduate of Norton Community High School.
On April 2, 1969 she married Elwood LeRoy Thomson at the United Methodist Church in Clayton.
She worked for Norton Appliance and Furniture for many years and then worked at High Plains Mental Health until her retirement.
Susan enjoyed researching genealogy and scrapbooking, many of her family members have been gifted large scrapbooks full of memories. She loved going to coffee with her friends and playing Bunko. Susan was always laughing, usually because she was joking around with someone, but there was no doubt that she would tell you exactly what her thoughts were.
Most of all, Susan loved being with her family. One of her greatest joys was attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elwood; infant grandson Lucas Nelson; sister Doylene Foreman and brother Michael Quenzer.
She is survived by her children Troy Michael Thomson of Norton, James Doyle Thomson of Yuma, CO, and Rachelle Ann (Jason) Glendening of Phillipsburg; sister Patrice Chard of Norton; grandchildren Brett (Lacey Richardson) Thomson, Alyssa (Adam) Gobber, Caren (Blaine) Worcester, Madalyn (Devon) Ghumm, Claudia Nelson, Jaxon Glendening, Jonathan, Christian, Riley, and Layla Thomson; great-grandchildren Jaycie Richardson, Ailee and Abel Gobber, Ava and Emberly Worcester, and Boone Ghumm; sisters-in-law Julia Quenzer and Melissa (Jerry) Chambers; brothers-in-law Eldon Foreman and Terry (Sharon) Smothers; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan Thomson Memorial Fund and sent in care of Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home 215 W. Main St., Norton, KS 67654.
