Billy Dean Lewis, longtime resident of Scott City, Kansas passed away December 8, 2023, at the age of 79. He was born on February 16, 1944, to Willie Harvey Lewis and Mildred Marie (Parks) Lewis in Clinton, Missouri.
Upon graduating High School, Billy worked various jobs and met and married his wife Linda Dee (Spillman) on December 23, 1965, in Lincoln Kansas; she survives. After his service in Vietnam, as a Green Beret with the 5th Special Forces Group, he returned to Kansas. A bit of a renaissance man, he made a living in various agribusiness vocations while enjoying his hobbies including woodworking, leatherworking, and gunsmithing among many others, while raising a loving family that will miss him very much.
Along with his wife Linda, Billy is survived by his daughter Becky Karnaze and husband Phil, son Matthew Lewis and significant other Debra Anne Pothier, son David Lewis and wife Nita, and son Clayton Lewis. Grandchildren Jacob and Kristen Karnaze and Lyle and Ayden Lewis; all of Scott City. Two sisters, Anna Lee James, Hope, Arkansas and Helen L. Hatfield and husband Edwin, Clinton, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charles W. Lewis, Leroy E. Lewis, J. Marvin Lewis, and Edgar L. Lewis; and four sisters, Dorothy M. Hetherington, Martha J. Minks, Nellie I. Headrick and Ethel M. Lewis.
Memorial Services will be held in March of 2024 at the Pence Community Church in Pence, Kansas with Don William presiding.
