Francis “Frank” Jacobs, 78, of Topeka, Kansas died Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Heritage Gardens Nursing home after battling dementia.
Frank
was born on October 5, 1944, in Hays, Kansas. He was the son of Edward
and Katherine Jacobs. He earned two Master's degrees from the University
of Kansas. He married Alice Jacobs in 1978, but she passed in June of
2018. Frank had two brothers, Edward Jacobs and Tom Jacobs, and one
sister, Ephigenia Jacobs. He is survived by his two children, Kevyn
Jacobs and Dale Jacobs, as well as two step-children, Tom Long and Brenda
Alfrey. He has 2 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 17
great-step-grandchildren.
Frank was a history buff, an amateur
genealogist, and traced his family tree back hundreds of years through
multiple countries. He had a life-long career working for the State of
Kansas in criminal justice, juvenile probation, and social work. He was
an outdoors-man and enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved
to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. Frank also enjoyed
karaoke and quartet singing. He was as smart as a whip and loved to
research history, military battles, and could fix just about anything
mechanical. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Out
of respect for Frank’s wishes, there will be no memorial service
planned. The family will have their own private memorial observance.
Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
