Steven William Hibbs, 69, passed away peacefully in his home in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Steve was born on Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas to Dorth E. Hibbs and Mary A. Feil (Adams) on June 28, 1954. Steve was the second born of two children, preceded by his older sister, Marcia Hackney (Hibbs). Steve was a graduate of Wichita Southeast High School and Wichita State University; he was also a proud veteran of the United States Army. Steve worked as a Professional Sales Representative for several global companies, including Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and Frito-Lay/PepsiCo. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dorth E. Hibbs, and his mother, Mary A. Feil. Survived by his son, Silas (Nicole) Hibbs; daughter, Brianna (Brent) Hines; son, Jordan Hibbs (Colorado Springs, CO); former wife, Debbie Hibbs; and sister, Marcia Hackney. Additionally, Steve was a proud "Pa" to his five grandchildren, Rya, Rivvy, and Renner Hibbs as well as Jayden and Ledger Hines. He was also a loyal uncle to Kale (Lissa) Hackney and Ashlyn Washington (Nate Vinson) and their respective children. Steve regularly attended Zaik Church in Wichita, KS, and was assured in his personal relationship with the Lord; he was also deeply intrigued by the work of Dr. David Jeremiah and Turning Point Ministries. Steve will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, who possessed a great sense of humor and an easy-going personality. Regularly, his quick-witted responses and funny expressions left others with large smiles across their faces. Steve was inherently creative and artistic as he routinely expressed himself in his abstract artwork through mediums of limestone rock, drawing, and painting. Importantly, Steve’s empathetic and gentle nature made him easy to confide feelings and emotions in without fear of judgment or ridicule. Lastly, Steve loved his family, including his late labrador retriever, Cooper, with great memories made camping at Wilson Lake, attending weekend soccer tournaments, and celebrating the holidays with his children and closest family. A private family memorial service will be held in the coming weeks and a formal memorial has been established through Zaik Church in Wichita, KS (https://app.aplos.com/aws/give/MWCChurch).
