Rozel – Shirley Ann Patterson, 86, passed away August 13, 2024 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
She was born April 25, 1938 in Larned, the daughter of John Albert and Lucille Kathryn Young Franz.
A lifetime area resident, she was of the Baptist faith and a past member of the First Baptist Church of Rozel. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines. She was a hairdresser and worked at Larned Healthcare Center for thirty-five years. Shirley was always on the go, never missing an event of her children and grandchildren. She loved playing bridge, was an avid KU Basketball fan, watching and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On May 11, 1958 she married Joe A. Patterson in Rozel; he preceded her in death on May 5, 1994.
Survivors include: daughter, Kathy Witt, Halstead; three sons, Kelly (Linda) Patterson, Cheney, Scott (Tiffani) Patterson, Larned, Derryl Ray Patterson, La Crosse; sister-in-law, Merilyn Franz, Oregon; nine grandchildren, Kelsy (Garrett) Higgins, Kingman, Kylie Chesser, Wichita, Tyler Patterson, Mulvane, Trey Patterson, Elkhorn, Nebraska, Jake Witt, Halstead, Tiara (Addie) Diaz, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Shelby Patterson, Larned, Casey Joe Patterson, La Crosse, Hannah Patterson, La Crosse; three great grandchildren, Raelynn Chesser, Kade Higgins, Kasen Higgins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Derryl Franz.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 28, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Gene Price presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Inurnment will be in Larned Cemetery.
