Glenn Mitchell, 65, died Saturday, November 5, 2022, at St. Catherine
Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 1, 1957, in
Borger, Texas the son of Rayburn & Bettie (Blanton) Mitchell.
Glenn began his working career in construction. He married Jenece
Hanson on May 20, 1998, in Garden City, Kansas, two years to the day
after their first date. After they were married, Glenn went to work at
the Hanson Ranch near Russell Springs, Kansas, where he like all the new
skills that he was learning. When his health started to fail, he moved
back to Garden City where he has lived since.
Glenn loved the outdoors. He loved going to various zoo’s, no
matter how big or small. He enjoyed going to amusement parks where he
could spend the entire day. He also loved traveling to his two favorite
vacation spots, Santa Fe, New Mexico or anywhere in Colorado. He also
enjoyed going to antique shops, and he especially loved his two puppies
Starlet and Sunshine.
Survivors include his wife Jenece Mitchell of the home; his
siblings Elaine (Paul) Webb, Kathy Widowski, Dyphene (Rusty) Daniels,
Carla (Daniel) Williamson, Ray Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, & Jimmy
(Donna) Mitchell; a sister-in-law Carla Jo (Mike) Pebbles; a
brother-in-law Mark (Jill) Hanson; and many nieces, nephews, and great
nephews. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Jenny
Ryan; and a brother-in-law David Brakhage.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November
12, 2022, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Russell Springs, Kansas
with Pastor Michael Hageman officiating. Burial will follow at the
Russell Springs Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
