Michael Joseph Zerr passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer, on December 12, 2023, at St. Catherines Hospital in Garden City, KS.
He was the 6th child born to Martin and Rita (Burkhart) Zerr. A unique individual, a cherished second son, who arrived after four sisters, and was big brother to two more. Mike graced our lives with his extraordinary spirit and distinctive physical requirements that demanded special care. His devoted mother provided unyielding support, fostering an environment where he was embraced without reservation, transcending any perception of handicap. Rarely complaining and facing each day with a determined spirit and a heartwarming smile, he brightened days for those who knew him. He had a love of music, his truck, and spending time with his many loving and dedicated friends.
A graduate of Garden City Senior High School in 1981. He worked for Garden City Recreation, Overhead Door, Zerr Construction and Burtis Motors.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Rita Zerr and his sister Martha Naab.
Survivors include 6 siblings: Steve (Shelley) Zerr, Emporia KS Tina (Dan) Powell, Westcliffe, COKathy (Ken) Roberts, Ulysses, KS Carol Wigner, Garden City, KS Mary (James) Gaul, Aurora, CO Suzanne (Jim) Oakley, Simpsonville, SC Uncle Mike to 9 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews.
Family Visitation: Friday December 29th at Garnand Funeral Home from 5:00- 7:00 p.m.A rosary and Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. The service will also be live streamed on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
