R. Jolene Cook

R. Jolene Cook, 80, passed away September 1, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born December 22, 1941, in Sterling, KS, to Carl Thomas and Rosetta Emmegene (Hunt) Mitzner.

On July 7, 1961, Jolene married Weldon A. Cook, in South Hutchinson.  They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to his passing on March 28, 2022.

Jolene owned the restaurant AT&O in South Hutchinson, for many years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, floral arranging, and could fix just about anything.  Jolene had an amazingly creative and artistic mind.  Some of her favorite things were black coffee, crossword puzzles, and vanilla ice cream.  Jolene dedicated many years to researching her family history and was a former member of the Reno County Genealogical Society.

Jolene is survived by:  her children, Troy (Susan) Cook of Nickerson, Tami Cook of South Hutchinson, Thom (Sharon) Etzler of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Heather "Tweed" (Jesse) Cartwright of Hutchinson, Tyler "Goose" (Hannah) Cook of Nickerson, and Ryder Cook of Hays; great-grandchildren, Max Elam, Lucy Elam, Emily Cook, Camden Hummel, and Willow Hummel; sisters, Twila Blew and Janice Runyon; brothers, Steve and David Mitzner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by:  her husband; parents; and siblings, Carl Dean Mitzner, Carolyn Vester, Donna Hearn and Gary Dewayne Mitzner.

Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be scheduled at a later time. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
