Jendee L. Dalton, 45, Bison, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.

Jendee was born October 26, 1978, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of DeWayne and Vicky (Serpan) Foos. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.

Jendee was a 1997 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, and a 2000 graduate of Crum’s Beauty College, Manhattan, Kansas. In 2004, she graduated from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.

Jendee began her criminal justice career at the Larned State Hospital, Larned, Kansas, as a guard in the juvenile facility. After the birth of her first child, she began working for the Department for Children and Families as an eligibility specialist. In 2014, Jendee began her dream job as a court services officer for the Kansas 20th Judicial District. In 2022, she transferred to her home district, the Kansas 24th Judicial District. While working for the Kansas 24th Judicial District, Jendee not only served as a court services officer, but also as a Community Corrections intake officer until her health would not allow her to do so.

She attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, and was a member of KACSO (Kansas Association of Court Services Officers), APPA (American Probation and Parole Association), KAMA (Kansas Academy of Mediators & Arbitrators). She was a former board member of the Bison Community Library, Bison, Kansas.

On October 28, 2006, she married Robert D. Dalton at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband, Robert D. Dalton, Bison, Kansas; her two sons, Gratton and Rennick Dalton, Bison, Kansas; her mother and father, Vicky and DeWayne Foos, Eureka Springs, Arkansas; her mother and father-in-law, Mary and Robert Dalton, Bison, Kansas; her brother, Jeremy Foos (Lisa), and their children, Cody and Morgan, Goddard, Kansas; and her paternal grandmother, Mary Steitz, La Crosse, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfathers, Marvin Foos, and Leland Steitz; and her maternal grandparents, Charley and Vernita Serpan.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 p.m.

Church visitation will be Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka and Father Edmond Kline officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to Gratton and Rennick’s education fund.
