Edna Lucille (Lamm) Pick, age 103, of Brandon, Mississippi, transitioned to her heavenly Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of almost 30 years, Rev. Roy Dean Pick, in 1969; parents, William and Helen Lamm; and 7 younger siblings. Survivors include daughter, Twila Lichlyter (Otis) of Brandon, Mississippi, and son, Ron Pick (Debbie) of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Cyndi Lichlyter Wilson (Phil), Phillip Lichlyter (Lisa), Paul Lichlyter (Amy), and Robert Pick; 3 step grandchildren, Kim Coos, Brandon Coos, and Crystal Findley; seventeen great-grandchildren; 22 great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lucille Pick was born on November 2, 1920, on their farm just south of Alton, Kansas. She graduated high school in May 1939 and married Dean Pick at age 19 on April 28, 1940. After the war, he became a pastor, and they pastored Assembly of God churches in Strasberg, CO; Alma, NE; Lyons, NE; Sharon, KS; Pomona, KS; and Edna, KS. While living in Edna, Dean was diagnosed with advanced lymphatic lymphoma. In May 1969, they moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, and he passed away in mid-October. In the years after becoming a widow, she was employed doing clerical work in various offices but eventually started working for the State of Kansas Disability Determination Services, a branch of the Social Security Department. She worked there in a full-time capacity until her retirement in 1987, and part-time another 7 more years. She then moved to Mississippi to be near her daughter and their family in 1994.
Lucille’s faith journey began as an 8-year-old at a Quaker church camp meeting near Alton, Kansas. While in high school, she rededicated her life to the Lord and was a member of Assembly of God churches from then on. For many years and up until her death, she was a member of Brandon Assembly of God.
Over her lifetime, Lucille loved to travel, particularly to family events, regardless of how far away. She was a proud mother and grandma, a caring pastor’s wife, an efficient clerical worker, a women’s ministries leader, and, what particularly characterized her the last 25 years or so, a devout prayer warrior. When she started losing her mobility, she knew her greatest job was sitting in her recliner and praying.
Lucille had several favorite Bible verses but the one she wanted on her gravestone is Psalm 91:2… “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.” She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
