Lawrence W. Ehrlich

Lawrence W. Ehrlich, 96, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Wheatland Nursing Home in Russell, Kansas. 

Lawrence was born on July 17, 1926, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Gotfred and Ida C. (Strecker) Ehrlich.  He grew up in Russell and attended Russell schools.  He joined the United States Armyduring the Korean war and was inducted in October 1944.  After serving his country, he met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Victoria B. Michaelis on November 16, 1947, in Russell, Kansasat the St. John Lutheran Church. From this union, Lawrence and Victoria were blessed with two sons Tim and Thomas.  He worked as a salesman for Shannon’s appliance for 20 years and also worked for the city and county of Russell.  He was a longtime member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.  He was a member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #624 and the Russell American Legion Post #99.  He loved dancing polka with his wife and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving family include his two sons Tim R. Ehrlich of Clearwater, Kansas and Thomas J. Ehrlich of Hutchinson, Kansas; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Victoria on September 22, 2005, and his brother Alvin Ehrlich.

A private burial has taken place at the Russell City Cemetery.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
