Marilyn Morgan, 91, La Crosse, Kansas, formerly of Bison, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.

Marilyn was born May 3, 1931, in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, the daughter of Merle Markley and Ruth (Stotts) Markley.  She was a resident of Bison, Kansas, since 2003, moving from Lincoln, Kansas, where she lived from 1967 to 2003.  A 1949 graduate of Cottonwood Falls High School, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

On April 8, 1951, she married Jesse Clinton “J. C.” Morgan in Strong City, Kansas.  He preceded her in death July 2006.

Marilyn worked with her husband, J. C., as co-owners/co-operators of G & H Auction, Ellsworth, Kansas, for many years.  Through the years, she also worked in the screen printing department of Century Manufacturing, Lincoln, Kansas, and JJ’s Country Store, Lincoln, Kansas.

She was also well known to be quite the artist and did many beautiful, no two the same, and very detailed, hand painted gourds, wood spindles, and a wide variety of unique creations.

She had a heart of gold and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include:  one son, Michael Morgan (Angee), Lyndon, Kansas; three daughters, Linda Achterberg (Duane), Hays, Kansas, Gail Nielander (Wray), Kinsley, Kansas, and Sally Williams, Bison, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandchild, Darren Achterberg; two brothers, Maurice Markley, and Monty Markley; and one sister, Marcheta Ginther.

Marilyn’s family has chosen cremation.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Burlington, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
